Posted on April 1, 2008

Woman biting her lipScent plays an important role in sexual chemistry. As Psychology Today explains, women are genetically wired to select their mates based on their natural scent. Women, through their sense of smell are able to detect MHC (major histocompatibility complex) which is a series of genes that plays an important role in the immune and reproductive systems.

Women prefer mates who are immunologically dissimilar to them as this indicates a good chance that offspring will be disease-resistant.

Create a Memento of Your First Date

Posted on February 27, 2008

Try something where you can make a memento of your date such as going to a studio where you paint your own ceramics. You will both have a chance to showcase your creative side while chatting over the paints.

If you choose an active activity, be sure to unwind afterwards with a cup of coffee or a drink in a quiet venue. Choose a place where you will not be rushed and can spend some quality time talking and asking each other questions.

Should You Talk About Your Ex During a First Date?

Posted on February 20, 2008

During a first date, it is not advisable to ask your partner about their past relationships. While it is important to know if they have had a serious relationship before, it’s not a good idea to ask about details. You do not want to get into a lengthy conversation about what happened and why they broke up. Even worse, you do not want to have your date moaning and whining about failed relationships.

Use your good judgment. If you don’t feel comfortable talking about certain topics right away, wait until you get to know each other better. The first date is for getting to know the basics about each other, so save the intimate details for future outings.

Play It Safe For The First Date

Posted on February 12, 2008

When you think of a safe meeting place, does your mind go immediately to the old idea of restaurants or cafes? Of course these places are great because they are public as there are lots of people around. And in case your date turns out to be a dud, you can simply finish your meal and end the date early.

But if the typical dinner at a restaurant isn’t your idea of a fun date, there are other great places that you can meet where you can feel equally as safe. What about meeting at the zoo where you can walk around and enjoy the animals? The zoo is a great opportunity for amusement and humor. If you meet up at a coffee shop, you can always go for a walk in the park and see some of the local scenery. If you like to be outside, meet at a local skating rink in the winter or a mini golf course in the summer. Use your imagination to think of some great places for a public date.

Look Your Best For Your First Date

Girl applying lipstickThe most important aspect in planning for your first date is your appearance. After all, you are trying to sell yourself to him or her, so make the product look good! It is so important to look your best on any date, but it is imperative on the first date.

You want to look your best, but don’t focus solely on what to wear. Remember that good hygiene is just as important, if not more important. Some things to consider are fresh breath, carry around mints; clean hands, be sure moisturize your hands and make sure your fingernails are neatly trimmed or manicured; and smelling good, don’t overdo it with perfumes or colognes.

These are just a few grooming tips to consider that will make your first impression a greater one.

How to Plan Your Next Dinner Date

Posted on January 28, 2008

Couple DiningIf you’ve invited your date to a restaurant, here are some tips to keep in mind.

Choose a restaurant where you’ll both enjoy the atmosphere and the food. Although you may want to surprise your date with where you’d like to go, keep in mind that not everyone likes Thai or Cajun cuisine. Give your date a choice or simply ask if they like French or Mexican food. That way, there is something on the menu you’ll both enjoy.

Don’t order potentially messy foods, like lobster, or an unfamiliar exotic dish. This is no time to experiment as your choice may turn out to be too spicy or simply may not appeal to your taste buds.

If you are meeting your date at the restaurant, never keep them waiting. Allow for extra time to avoid delays such as traffic. Being punctual is especially important because some restaurants will not seat you until everyone in your party is present, although this is usually the case with large parties. Another thing to keep in mind is that some chain restaurants will have more than one location in the same area, so be sure you’re at the right one.

Even if you’ve planned for a casual lunch or dinner, don’t go to a restaurant where you have to stand up to read the menu (i.e., fast food restaurants). Choose, instead, a quaint and cozy café where you can still be casual, but you can sit and enjoy a simple meal or a cup of coffee.

Finally, dress nice. Whether you’re having dinner at an elegant restaurant or lunch at a local diner, be sure you are dressed for the proper setting. You don’t need to wear your fanciest outfit, nor should you wear your most informal garment. Use your best judgment, but realize that even for the most casual eateries, ripped jeans are really not suitable especially if you want to leave a good impression.
